HTC have produced some excellent handsets over the years but it has only been since the introduction of Android that they have managed to make a big splash in the mainstream mobile phone market. HTC have a history of being among the front runners when it comes to exciting innovations bit they were a little behind the curve when it came to introducing dual-core processors to their handsets.
It looks as though they don’t want to make the same mistake when it comes to the quad-core generation of phones. Rumour has it that HTC will announce their first quad-core handsets next month at the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona. With the only officially announced quad-core Android device being the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime tablet HTC could lay claim to being the first manufacturer to release a quad-core Android phone.
Since HTC’s long standing partner Qualcomm currently only offer quad-core chipsets which are built around LTE connectivity, since this wouldn’t be of much use for most of Europe it looks as though they may use the Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset for their UK bound quad-core devices.
